They don\u2019t stop the ability to breastfeed<\/h2>\n

While the FDA warns that breast augmentation<\/a> cause problems and reduces your feeding ability, real-life cases have proven otherwise. Over 10 million patients undergo this procedure every year globally. Feeding-related complications after these procedures are rare enough that many experts have dismissed there\u2019s any connection between them and breast augmentation.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive studies haven\u2019t been conducted yet so there\u2019s no detailed information on this matter. The key to successful breastfeeding is a positive attitude, good support structure, and comfort. You can also supplement nutrition so your child is healthy.<\/p>\n

Breastfeed with implants: Impact of techniques<\/h2>\n

A small study indicates that implants through periareolar incisions can cause milk insufficiency. These incisions are made around the areola and carry a higher risk. Unfortunately, this study has been conducted on a very small sample size so it can\u2019t be considered conclusive.<\/p>\n

Incisions made under your armpit or from under the fold of your breasts are safer, less likely to interfere with feeding. Underdeveloped breasts have problems producing milk so you will face problems after augmentation.<\/p>\n

Most surgeons will choose the safest and most effective procedure for carrying out augmentation. They\u2019ll explain all you need to know about your procedure, its impact on your breastfeeding, and other such factors. If there\u2019s a higher chance of facing problems, a surgeon will make sure you know.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t really know how much a particular procedure will impact the ability until you start to breastfeed with implants. Mothers will usually know right away if they\u2019re unable or if babies are getting an insufficient amount of milk.<\/p>\n

 Impact on quality of milk<\/h2>\n

These procedures have caused no recorded harm to breastfed babies. Infants haven\u2019t developed any health concerns, allergies, or unusual properties in their blood.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no difference in the quantity of silicone in milk, whether the sample is taken from women with augmentation or without one. Cow\u2019s milk has more silicone in it than breast milk and it is considered safe to drink. The small amount of silicone won\u2019t cause any harm to your baby. Saline implants are even safer for breastfeeding.<\/p>\n

Mothers can also use breast pumps after getting implants. As they\u2019re designed to fit the contours of your breast perfectly, a pump will extract milk comfortably. Start with a lower pumping setting to ensure there\u2019s no injury. Even high settings don\u2019t cause more pressure than a baby would so your implants won\u2019t be harmed.
