AESTHETIC SURGERY WITH FACIAL IMPLANTS ... Balance and proportion
Plastic surgery using facial implants makes it possible to improve facial appearance and morphology while accentuating or re-balancing facial structure. Attached to the malar bone, the cheekbones are more prominent. Implanted in the chin, it becomes squarer and more prominent. Attached to the lower jaw, the face becomes more angular with accentuated squareness. Solid implants are either made of silicone (solid material), hydroxyapatite or polyethylene (porous biosynthetic fabric).
SURGERY ... The importance of expertise
The first step of the procedure consists in making an incision measuring a few millimetres inside the mouth, under the chin, or under the lashes of the lower lid, depending on the case. The small pouch where the implant will be inserted is then dissected. The implant is then positioned on the subjacent bony structure and the incision is closed. Facial implant surgery can be performed under local anaesthetic with sedation or under general anaesthetic. The average duration of the intervention is approximately one hour.
