With ageing, skin gets loose and flabby as
natural elasticity disappears. In women, this tendency may result
in large areas of saggy skin mostly inside the thighs (Figure 1a).
Thigh lifting is meant to stretch the skin back into place, reduce
fat layers, if necessary, and excise surplus skin.

Thigh lifting is done under general anaesthesia.
The incision runs from the inguinal fold (groin) to the buttock
fold. First, the skin is redraped, its surplus resected, then
the incision is closed again with sutures. In certain cases, liposuction
is performed at the same time to remove extra fat. The incision,
located in a natural body fold, is rather discreet (Figure 1b).
